Three things for Sunday
28 Nov 2021 18:271. It was so so nice having the kids home for Thanksgiving break. My only regret is that we did not see Anne-Chloe at all. She is busy prepping for her trip to Iceland and I don't think wanted to deal with anything. But yeah. Quarter almost done for the other two. Perry drove himself, Linnea, and two friends back up to WWU and they had to do a detour because I5 was closed (trees down after landslide). They got in ok, but I always worry because I'm always scared of water over roadway and people deciding to go through it. For the record this is the 2 of 3 atmospheric rivers expected to hit the region in 5 days. Keep your water, Honolulu! Or better yet, point the firehose at California, I think they can use it!
2. Tomorrow back to WW/diet in a more serious way. I've been doing ok calories wise this weekend, but not pointswise, so I need to get back on the plan.
3. Got some furniture moved around this weekend, since we finally were able to get rid of the china cabinet. Still have to get lighting in, and strap it to the wall, and then I can put stuff in it and unpack some of my octopus boxes, whee!

Three things for Sunday
14 Nov 2021 17:301. Made some progress on getting some recycling out of the house (film plastic and old clothing). Yay. Hoped to get some other stuff but the car's transmission is still effed up so we're hesitating to go anywhere (Perry took the load to the transfer station, no us). Have some plans as to what needs to get done but the main issue that is pissing the hell off is that one (nice) item of furniture is the lynchpin for getting the whole living area to fall into place. And it isn't budging, sigh.
2. Linnea bought me the best waterbottle sticker ever: two of my favourite things: octopus and the aurora borealis.

3. Turkey Day is in less than two weeks. I am not ready. I think it's only going to be us, not even sure if Anne-Chloe will join us. Probably MIL, SIL, and nephew, dunno about that. I want to spend most of the weekend working on getting the garage cleared out, so eh.

Tentacular goodness
23 Jul 2020 09:27I am not a pro sports fan to say the least. I despise the whole franchises thing, and don't watch anything. I don't care. I am still angry that I'm paying for two ginourmous stadia when the old Kingdome had just been refurbished, was multi-purposed, and not even paid off.
So yeah. I'm the person who cheers when the owners say that they're going to leave Seattle. Go, Seahawks, and take the Mariners with you!
But now.
We have a hockey team. The Seattle Kraken.
Kraken.
It's no secret that I love all things 8-limbed, so I'm thrilled. Not that I'll ever watch a game, of course, I think hockey is just legalized assault on ice.
But Kraken!
Tentacular goodness!

Rains, pours etc
31 May 2020 17:18OMG.
My house is mess. There is stuff all over the place, and furniture that we need to get rid of etc.
And.......
I finally found an item I'd been looking for for years on craigslist: a large enough display case to hold a good portion of my octopus collection behind glass.
Damn it.
I mean, yay, but now is truly not the time to be bring a gigantic piece of furniture into the house.
We're going to see if this evening and the guy said he should be able to deliver if we decide to get it. We do have a trailer, which is fine for mulch and rocks but might be a bit bumpy for this.
I do not want to bring more furniture and STUFF into this house. But I will.
The reason I am doing it: I like light wood and it's becoming harder and harder to find anything in the light maple we like, either on craigslist or in a store. So.

I'm excited. As soon as most of my FIL's stuff is dealt with, I'll be able to get my octopi out and display them again!

15 Mar 2018 07:20Bing marks the Ides of March
I love it. I can't download the photo but to give an idea, I've snipped it.

Anyone crochet?
23 Apr 2016 11:57I WANT this hat. I really really want it.

She talks about how she made it here: Bonnet poulpe au crochet. WARNING: it's a blogspot site, ie a google privacy violating site, sorry.
She used the instructions to make the octopus here. Also a blogspot site, but this one is not demanding that I accept cookies or ELSE. Else, thanks, it's called a private browsing window!
Anyhow, the cute little thing, technically an amigurimi, I guess, was learly it was modified a bit, because the tentacles are slimmer and the head doesn't have as much stuffing.
OMG, want.
I don't know how to crochet. Linnea and I checked out a crochet video last night and yeah, if how clear the video was to us is any indication, neither of us are going be making this any time soon.
Anyone want to take on a commission? :)
