Quick eye update.
19 Jul 2013 16:08Started treatment at about 9pm Monday. By Tuesday mid-morning, it was pretty clearly working, yay!
Had a re-check this morning, and he said, "Tiny bit of stain re-uptake" which is code for "almost healed"... what I was hoping to heal was of course "no stain re-updake", heh, but I'll take tiny bit.
One more week of meds, and then I can stop them, no need for a re-check. As he said, at this point I can tell when I need treatment and when I don't. He talked with another doctor about my case, and they're wondering if it's dry eyes, under outdoors conditions, that are triggering: I have some fake tears to try for Yosemite later this summer, and I'll bring along any meds I have left just in case.
Also, always amusing: the meds I've gotten these past three times are a 40+ year old antibiotic. My staph are old fashioned staph. They thumb their flagella at the (expensive) new antibiotics, but die when confronted with the medical equivalent of a stone ax. I'll take it, of course.
Anyhow. Fingers crossed that this episode is behind me, and that the extra liquid in my eyes works when camping next month to prevent a re-occurrance. And I'm headed to REI this evening to buy a hat. I'll look like an idiot, but my eyes will be shaded.
