This just pisses me off to no end.

No Money For State Scholarship Winners

They earned a fucking scholarship and now we're not paying it out? Because it was cut from the fucking budget?

Here is what some asshole Repug had to say about the situation:

A "little hollow". Hey! I won some money, only there is no money! Yay me! Hello? This is people's fucking college education we're messing with, their ability to move up in life? Fuck.

Years ago when I was working? The company I worked for gave out awards. Big ones. Trip for two to Hawaii one year. Trip to Disney for two the next, $5k the following year. The final year I worked there? I won two awards, both, if I may say so myself, well deserved. (We went from a 5 person IT staff to me and an asshole name Marko who surfed porn all day, and whom I should have officially reported for sexual harassment.) Anyhow, the year I won the awards? No money went with them. No trip. Nothing. Years later, hell yeah, I'm still pissed! The recognition was nice, yeah, but I'd have liked the 10k too, ya know?

So I'm angry at my state legislature. Very much so. Because those people are now stuck, with their award and no money to go with it. The Washington State constitution (should that be capitalised? I never know.) states that

It is the paramount duty of the state to make ample provision for the education of all children residing within its borders, without distinction or preference on account of race, color, caste, or sex.

Yeah, not so much on this one, huh?

This will save a measly 2 million dollars.

I hope the 128 people who had counted on this to further their education can get some help some other way. I'm betting most will... just end up with student loans.
