Making my daughter smile
2 Jul 2024 20:13A few days after Commencement, as I was going to do my morning walk, I saw a (fake!) golden butterfly on the ground, clearly some celebration remnant. I picked it up and stashed it behind a sign. It's still there, almost a month later.

On Saturday, we went on a bike ride, parking at UW so Linnea could check out the UW-boathouse ride. As we were passing the sign, I heard her say: "Hello pretty butterfly!" and she turned out to smile at us and pointed out the butterfly.
It made me so happy. That my daughter took joy in something I did, that she's the type of person to notice a butterfly "perched" on a sign, that it brought a bit of positivity and a smile into her day. And mine, as a result.
I hope other people see it and smile too.
