nwhikerAt 16:54, email from Icelandair cancelling our flight. This went to dh and to me.
At 17:03, email from Icelandair with a "complex rebooking" -their term- giving us a trip from Seattle to LA to London to Oslo. We'd get it at almost 20:00, so not ideal, but eh. We logged into the Icelandair site and checked that seats were booked etc. It all looked good.
Then 17:40 dh -not me- got an email saying that no, we're not in fact rebooked, there is a problem with the flight from London to Oslo. A check on the Icelandair site shows four seats booked on the transatlantic segment and no seats on the London to Oslo segment.
Since we were at that point, starting to pack, we didn't see that email until past 18:00 when... Icelandair Customer Service closed, leaving us in limbo until either 23:00 or 00:00 depending on which part of the website I believe.
So yeah. We're fucked.
We booked most of the trip using an agency, and they didn't offer trip protection. So eh, we're out several thousand dollars if we can't get our asses to Oslo in the next few days. We do have a slop day built in before the real expensive part of the trip, but we'd be out a boat tour of the Oslo fjord and a night's hotel.
I'm so pissed.
We did find a flight out of SEA to Oslo on Lufthansa tomorrow, but every time we try to book it (it's stupid expensive, but eh) it fails. We called the credit card, and it's not them, it's the other end (airline or Expedia).
I just want to stay home.

There is a possibility we may end up in Oslo tomorrow. There is also a possibility we may end up in Timbuktu, Tokyo, or Tasmania. It's been that kind of day. Had to wait up until the Icelandair bureau at KEF opened up at 7am GMT/11PST and then for them to call us back because lots of people were in line.
So.
First: there is/will be a wind storm is Iceland so the airport is pretty much closed.
Next: we are in fact booked through from SEA to OSL, via LA and London, despite the email that David got. Nobody has a good idea of why he got that email, it may have been a case of sent first but received later. The side benefit is that we got an upgrade to DeltaComfort+ on the transatlantic leg.
Fingers crossed, we may actually get out of here tomorrow.
