Another book
15 Feb 2023 11:31I knew this one would leave me weeping, every other book from Seanan McGuire's _Wayward Children_ series has.
So.
_Lost in the Moment and Found_ is yet another gem of a novella. The writing is limpid, there is never a word or a phrase out of place, and each other is necessary and part of a whole. The books are woven tight, in a good way. The characters, as always, are well drawn out.
In this one -and it's not a spoiler since it's disclosed at the start of the book- a child is on the cusp of abuse, of having terrible things happen to her. McGuire added a warning at the start, that this was going to be part of the book, but that Antsy runs. This could be a spoiler, so I'm white-fonting. That heart-breaking warning, for people for whom the trauma of childhood abuse is a real lived thing, is the start of a story that doesn't quite end with happily ever after but with a promise for the future.
Seriously, if you haven't, check out the whole series. I cannot even name a favorite.
