Cue the GOP tomorrow (if not already): "See, people get shot even in countries with strict gun laws!" Yeah, about 10 a year in a country of 127 million, vs over 22 000 (*) for a country of 330 million, so not really on the same order of magnitude.
ETA (*) Apparently, it's twice that, at 45000, though that includes suicides. Still.
