Yipes that boat

nwhikerGot Perry back from Florida yesterday, Linnea and I went to pick him up at the airport.
He had photos of the boat his coach rented. I get the strange feeling that this was not the boat promised.
Wrong brand.
A crack in the hull repaired with tape.
Corroded hardware.
A rigger that came loose because the washers they had on there were completely trash.
So he spent most of his first day scrounging for hardware to get the boat to the point where he felt it would not fall apart on him. Perry is strong, and there is a lot of stress put on these boats. He was a bit concerned about the whole structure breaking with he went full pressure, which he did anyhow.
What was really gross and WEIRD? The oars had some type of little black dots all over them. He tried cleaning them, the dots would not come off. No idea what they were. Anyone have any ideas? We're stumped.
