When I was a kid, one of my fave things to do was to put beans between paper towels and observe them sprouting. Eventually, I'd put them in the ground. Alas... I was know to poke little hole to see if they continued to grow, disrupting them. I found -at about age 11- that the best thing was to wait to plant them until there was enough of a shoot to poke up above soil so I'd leave them alone.

Let me say: working in the lab with seeds on agar plates was heaven. I could SEE what was happening! And by the time I actually put them in soil, they had leaves, so I knew things were nominally going well.

(Yes, I've also removed scabs to make sure things were healing underneath.)

It seems that Linnea shares a bit of that "I wanna know" coupled with impatience with me.

She is desperate to get an X-Ray to see how and if her bone is mending.

Poor kid. She's accepted that she is missing the whole end of the rowing season and it's made her very sad.

Also, she got 35/40 on her CS midterm. She's not doing too great at math, of course. It's desperately sad that she's not going to be able to go much further in CS because math is going to be a problem for her.

Also, there are banded pigeons on my deck again today. These are the NW native pigeons, and they are big and quite pretty. And big. They aren't trying to get to the (much too small) feeders, they just come to hang out on the feeder poles or the railings.
