Also panic re thesis. OMG, so much frustration with Word. Fuuuuck.

I wrote a MS thesis in astrophysics in freaking TeX. Word should be a piece of cake. IT IS NOT.

Perry posted a photo a complicated pathway in cancer to our family group chat (including my sibs etc), with a description a per the prof, though the sentence quip is him.

Sentence of the day:
The intracellular signaling depicted (left) within the tumor microenvironment is not static but instead changes during tumor progression as a result of reciprocal signaling interactions between cancer cells of the parenchymal and stromal cells that convey the increasingly aggressive phenotypes that underlie growth, invasion, and metastatic dissemination.

My summary back at him: Translation of that paragraph: what is bad, gets worse. :P :)

I ran into a major hurdle with Word and my dissertation in getting it formatted for the official printers (was back in 2001) - some kind of errors in the postscript it was generating. I forget what the ultimate solution was, but I'm pretty sure lots of hair was torn out getting there! So good luck; it's frustrating how much time can be spent struggling with technology.

Oh god. Postscript. Yeah, someone is bald as a result.

The thing is, when it works? Everything is easy peasy. But when it doesn't, there is like no way out. Plus really complicated things seem to work easily but some simple ones seem to be beyond it.
