Bye to my 85 Accord
18 Nov 2021 09:15Well, we finally found the title, so were able to donate the old 85 Accord. It's not been running for a few years, but when I went to donate it, I had zero idea where the title had gotten to. Did a pretty major paperwork search a few weekends ago and finally found it. Took a bit, lol.
I'd kept it because it's a standard and we'd had hopes that we'd teach the kids to drive a standard.... and then the remodel happened and they put a whole bunch of pavers we wanted to save in front of the car, so it could no longer be moved. We got the pavers moved a while back, and that's when I realized the car wouldn't start, it needed a new battery.
But it's being towed away today.
I loved that car.
We brought Anne-Chloe back from the hospital in the car. We drove to New Mexico several times and to Canada, many. We took it camping and hiking. It commuted back and forth to Mercer Island, taking the kids to school. And back and forth to the gym, taking Anne-Chloe to gymanitics. It still has a Kerry Edwards sticker on the back. And a LINUX one. And of course, like all of my cars, a USA Gymnastics sticker.
It was a good car.

Date: 18 Nov 2021 19:36 (UTC)Was the title in a bathroom cabinet? Because that's where we found my parents' car title... (after wondering if we'd have to go through the lawyers because technically it was owned by the trust and and and...) then again, you don't have dementia. :^)

Date: 18 Nov 2021 19:57 (UTC)Totally on the opposite end of dementia... Linnea used to stash things in things in things All The Freaking Time. Some of it was funny (I idly opened the dollhouse grill one day to find a Pepperidge farm goldfish in it and once she 'stole' -borrowed- a whole bunch of the older kids' DS games and put them in the tiny backpack of one of her dolls, because they were 'books') and some of them just weird and perplexing (why are there, say, two pencils and a doll shoe in my hiking boot?) She still does it, boxes in boxes in boxes.

Date: 18 Nov 2021 19:51 (UTC)It was actually in a folder labelled "To Do" along with a dentist bill (hopefully long paid...), a shopping list, and a receipt for a cat emergency vet visit. Previous set of cats, LOL.
The bill was from 2012, as was the receipt. I have no idea when or why it was put there, though that may have been when I got an offer to buy it from a friend of my SIL's. (Then I decided that anyone associated with my SIL was probably not to be trusted.... in part because they wanted to borrow it for a few weeks before they actually bought it and transferred the title.)
