Three things for Sunday

nwhiker1. Perry's girlfriend has been spending weekends with us. We adore her, and what's the most wonderful is seeing how much Linnea likes her. It makes for gentle weekends.
2. Afghanistan. OMG. How heartbreaking and infuriating. Even more so because Biden is being blamed for what is 97% George W. Bush's problems, 2% Obama, and 1% Trump. Though, considering that Trump released a bunch of Taliban goons, he probably bears more responsibility. Basically, Bush set in place the disaster, there was no way it was going to end any other way, and Obama and Trump kicked the can down the road. Biden is dealing with it. Is is perfect? Oh hail no. But it was always going to be a disaster.
3. Trying to fit in a vacation of some sort this year... and it's not working. Linnea is going to visit my brother in Baton Rouge 31Aug-11Sep and I though dh and I could do something, since Perry will still be home to catsit... but I can't find a single campsite at at National Park in the West, grrr. I did find cheap flights to Iceland for early October (really cheap, to be honest), but I'm not sure we want to be away at the start of the school year, I suspect Linnea is going to need A LOT of support. But ugh. So many people bought RVs and started camping that it's been difficult to find campsites pretty much anywhere... I looked at the places we usually go, and they were fully booked at least 2 months before they usually are. Sigh. So who knows? We'll probably not manage to go anywhere, until we decide to hotel it, which is never our preference.
