Three things for Sunday
4 Apr 2021 14:521. Some weeks (?) ago dh and I woke up to the Prius' car alarm blaring. We didn't think anything of it, figured a key was low battery or some such. We both ran out there and didn't see anything. We went back to bed it happened again a few minutes later. That's bit of info #1. Some weeks (?) ago Perry complained about the check engine light going on on the Prius. That bit of info #2. This past week, someone posted to Nextdoor that that catalytic converter had been snipped out of their car. They live just a few blocks from us, and within moments, half dozen people chimed in with stories of their catalytic converter losses, all in the past few months. Bit of info #3. And here's bit of info #4: dh pulled the codes on the car's computer and found out that the check engine light was due to a faulty oxygen sensor. He put the car up on jack stands to see what was going on and found.... the wires to the O2 sensor were cut. No fraying. The sensor is, btw, screwed into the catalytic converter. It would have to be snipped before the cat was cut out. The Prius does not have a jack alarm, so I'm betting were we seconds from losing our catalytic converter. Gah.
2. I was talking with my sister today and we were remembering in an OMG, how the eff did we survive and end up almost normal way about the years we spent in Tunisia. I found out she doesn't remember the highway sign to Timbuktu, or rather Toumbouctou. That remains one of my most vivid memories of those first weeks in Tunis, the realization that I'd landed in a place that was a gateway to, well, Timbuktu, ie the End of the Earth as that kid from Long Island knew it. I promised a write up of the whole story, I'll try to post it here.
3. I think we're going to head to the Mukilteo waterfront for fish and chips. Well, fish and chips for dh and Linnea, Perry and I will no doubt have chicken. LOL. It's a bit chilly, but the sun came out and we'll eat in the car, but with a bit of luck, it'll be pretty at least.
