I remain chilled, thinking of what would have happened if the mob had gotten hold of Speaker Pelosi, Schumer, Pence? Or, truly, any disliked easy to recognize figure.
What would have happened then?
Where would we be now? Would democracy have prevailed.
The frightening thing is that I am not sure.
We came close. Very close. Too close.
