What the hell is going on at Costco?

I suspect everyone has started hoarding again and I'm the last idiot who hasn't?

I've driven by Costco about 6 times this weeks (on my way/way back to other had-to-be-done things, not separate trips) and each time the parking lost has been packed.

Various times of day, so it's not just that.

I know TDay and Christmas are coming up but there are usually some times when it's not a total zoo.

At this point, in my area, I don't feel comfortable going into a packed Costco.

I really wish stores would post data on their crowds at any given time. I feel like that would help me decide when to go. It used to be that Costco was great at 8pm, just before closing, I could zip in and out in 15 minutes but it's even crowded then.

Ah well. I'm going to have to go this week. I've been putting it off for a week now.

ETA: had to go to Target this evening, needed shampoo and conditioner. So I checked. There was no toilet paper to be had.

And so....

And so it begins.

Linnea turned in her first college application today, for UW. She will not get in, but she wanted to apply.

What is really awesome? She did so much of this on her own. Wrote her essay, edited it, with help from friends, not us. The only time she completely broke down was when she had to write a "short response" which asks what diversity she brings to UW. I'm not sure they had that question when AC applied, and I know that Perry had a difficult time with it.

She wrote, essentially, about intersectionality in STEM: how not only was she a girl in her upper level computer science classes (4 out of 27 in advanced programming), but what with her learning disabilities, she's got another strike against her, and often feels unwelcome (which makes sense, when other kids ask things like "what are you doing in this class?"). Anyhow.

Self driven is nice.

This is just the first, UW is very early. She has a lot of schools on her list. I am not sure she will get in anywhere, and I hate the thought. I felt bad for Perry, with all the rejections he got, but he basically blew off studying and turning stuff in in high school. Linnea works hard. She just has a long list of learning disabilities that make everything so much harder.

My little last is applying for college. WTF?
