What the hell is going on at Costco?

I suspect everyone has started hoarding again and I'm the last idiot who hasn't?

I've driven by Costco about 6 times this weeks (on my way/way back to other had-to-be-done things, not separate trips) and each time the parking lost has been packed.

Various times of day, so it's not just that.

I know TDay and Christmas are coming up but there are usually some times when it's not a total zoo.

At this point, in my area, I don't feel comfortable going into a packed Costco.

I really wish stores would post data on their crowds at any given time. I feel like that would help me decide when to go. It used to be that Costco was great at 8pm, just before closing, I could zip in and out in 15 minutes but it's even crowded then.

Ah well. I'm going to have to go this week. I've been putting it off for a week now.

ETA: had to go to Target this evening, needed shampoo and conditioner. So I checked. There was no toilet paper to be had.

Matthew was at Costco on Friday bc he'd heard rumors people were going to be hoarding stuff again. There was no toilet paper and no paper towels. Someone asked a worker and was told "TP will come in on Sunday, PTs on Monday" (or vice versa).

and my point was, it does seem like people are getting nervous again. and that visit was before Michigan issued new restrictions (although there were rumors it was going to happen).

was at my costco today; they were out of both TP and PT (paper towels), but somewhere along the way someone had the good idea to put this on a chalkboard sign at the front door.

Yeah, mine's pretty good about having a sign up front about what is out of stock. As you said, TP, PT, anything with alcohol, and alas, flour.

I guess everyone is planning on baking their way through the holidays!

I've never seen a sign before at ours (but i am notorious, at least in my own mind, for overlooking stuff like that). Ours did have flour this week, though - the 12 lb King Arthur bags and another brand that Matthew will use if KA is out. I stocked up on KA.

Ours has been good about the sign since March, when it was outside. I'll admit to driving by, seeing that half of what I needed wasn't available and driving on.

Wow. KA flour. I wish my Costco carried that. No such luck, we have two or three kinds of gluten free flour and the 25# bag of food service flour, and occasionally some random brand in 2 packs.

I love how different Costcos have different stuff. My sister, from Bend, goggles at the variety of Indian food mine carries.
