Christmas food

nwhikerI told dh that I was not doing a repeat of Thanksgiving on Christmas, making food for his mom and sister, taking it to MIL's (they're effectively a bubble/household), and then doing all the last minute stuff again for our dinner, resulting in a less than warm turkey and dried out dressing (my fault, I should have covered it), and just generally a lot of stress.
My suggestion was that on Christmas Eve we'd take over a ham, scalloped potatoes to be re-heated (or the ones from Costco), dessert, rolls and probably some sparkling apple juice, for the 25th, as well as sourdough bowls (Perry has a starter) and clam chowder and dessert for that evening itself. They would have to figure out their own veggies.
Dh was hesitant, but then agreed.
He floated the plan to MIL and SIL. We'll see how that goes. If past experience serves, my SIL's response will be along the lines of "I prefer prime rib". LOL.
