Socked in rain this morning, and it feels like a fall rain, not a summer one.

I'm not unhappy about it, though I am a bit annoyed that the smoke event denied us the last few days of summer, when the temps are typically cooler.

If we're lucky, we'll get a few more warm and sunny days towards the end of the month.

I asked my sister if she wanted to come up here for 3 Nov to watch the election returns and the inevitable battle that will follow. Perry wanted me to make macaroni and cheese -the real stuff- and I told him I'd make it for election night: we can eat it with either celebratory prosecco or straight shots of whiskey or rum (what does one use for shots?)

Oooh. Maybe I should make blue jello shots? We could drink those either way. My problem there is that one half a shot, and I'm under the table.

My fear, like many, is that this is all going to go south, with Trump declaring himself the winner based on early results and creating the perception that Biden is stealing the election when the results change because more votes are counted. He's being pretty blatant about that being the plan already:

Trump is counting on the Supreme Court to help him steal the election

The Election That Could Break America.

I haven't finished reading The Atlantic piece.

Still haven't gotten flu shots. I should go today, but it's cold and wet out there and I don't wanna. Tomorrow.

One of the reasons for having my sister visit is that it really puts the pressure on to finish clearing out the living room. We're truly getting towards the end, and it just needs to happen, I'm so tired of my living space feeling wrong. I think in the next few days I am going to pressure dh to get on a Zoom call with his mom, his sister, and AC (or have his mom over) so we can get to the big box of nice pottery etc. My SIL said she would "take it all" but dh wants a few pieces as well. She also wants all the jewelry. Whatever.

We had a temporary marker put on FIL's grave and dh is finally getting back around to getting the permanent one ordered. The hold up this time is my MIL. It's supposed to be name, dates, and then a line with "Father Historian Educator" (my suggestion) and dh and SIL liked and agreed. We were ready to go. Proof of design was obtained and emailed to everyone. Then MIL decided that she wanted "Husband" added. They were married for 20+ years, but they were divorced for almost that long. The problem is that it makes the font too small and everything becomes a mess. SIL is ambivalent. Dh has been sitting on the proof since April, not wanting to make a decision that will annoy everyone, but it's gotten back on his list of things to do. I think I'm going to suggest he ask how MIL and SIL feel about "Friend". It still creates the problem of small font, but might not bother SIL and MIL might be ok with it.

So many bits and pieces.

ETA: got my flu shot at Costco this evening. It was scary. I don't look when I get shots, just in case, and this time I did not know the injection was done until I felt the freaking band-aid.

I was at Costco the other day and noticed their sign about flu shots for $19.99 - but yet at Target (aka CVS) they are free. I wonder what's up with that? (Matthew has some certificates from Juniper for us to use at Target for a free shot, but Zane got one a few weeks back when we were there to pick up an rX and they didn't mentioned any fees. But maybe the pharmacist already looked up our insurance info and that's why it was free? ) (Sorry about the tangent!)

Good luck getting the rest of the stuff sorted out. I should double check with my sister if NM finally fixed my mom's death certificate so my dad could get the benefits he is due...
