I am going to snap.
24 Jan 2020 13:58One of these days I am going to 'snap!' at my Weight Watchers meetings.
Because there is a whole group of idiots who've bought into whatever latest snake oil Goop/DrOz/Gary Taubes/WhateverWoo is selling and is repeating it as gospel.
Yet again today, I had to listen to the "sugar as addictive as heroin" bullshit. One of these days, I'm going to ask the woman if she's got through heroin detox to be able to compare the two.
Calling the Sara Lee high fiber/low calorie break a "fake food"? Yes, I know what inulin is. Yes, I know the bread is not something that I'd bake in my kitchen. But come ON. It's not poison.
And blah blah blah on artificial sweeteners.
It's three women in particular, and they're annoying as hell.
The first points I'd make after the one on heroin:
-- Agave syrup is not any better than sugar.
-- The acupuncture clinic down the road with adverts for different weekly "discounted" treatments (weight loss for the past few weeks, often it's "Acupuncture for Fertility" and "Acupuncture Detox") probably does not have the solution to your weight issues.
-- Yes, not eating after 6pm will help you lose weight, but not because of anything magical beyond the fact that you've just cut out your opportunities for eating.
-- The fact that there is a tiny bit of dextrose in Morton's salt is not because "they put sugar in everything", it's there to stabilize whatever form of iodine they add to salt. Rolly eyes at that one too.
Anyhow. The heroin this is the one that bugs me the most, and one that gal repeats almost every week. Maybe I'll join Facebook, and the group for my WW meeting and debunk her BS there.
