Et tu, Nordstrom's?
23 May 2018 13:05OMFG, Nordstrom's what the fuck happened?
Like many people around here, I use Nordstrom's when I need high quality stuff, and help finding it. Dh bought his (one) set of fancy clothes there (jacket and pants), as did my brother (more than one suit), and when shopping Value Village for bits and pieces for trains (conductor gear), both Dh and AC favour Nordstrom pieces. Usually well cut (even from Value Village), well made, and high quality fabric. Even from Value Village. Note that even from Value Village.
Because Value Village may have the only nice shit you can get from Nordstrom's men's department any longer (if you are not buying $1400 jackets, to be clear.) Sic transit and all that...
We were looking for -ideally- a jacket for Perry. Of course he's hard to fit. He's got a classic athlete's shape, with broad shoulders, but he tapers quickly.
But the crap they had no offer? Everything was nasty shiny wool and fucking Spandex, fit weird, and the one I did like the fit and cut on (but not the fabric. All the fabric was awful) had large exposed stitches as a fashion thing. It just looked stupid, and would make the suit look dated withhin a year. One other suit would have been fine but "bright navy" is now closer to neon blue than it is to navy.
I though men were able to buy classic shit that they can wear for a few years? Because this shit -which costs as much as the classic stuff from back when- is going to look dated by next year, if it doesn't fall apart before then.
We looked at sports jackets, but since Perry is not into wearing ugly pink, lavendar or beige, and I detest polyester so no dice.
I should have known this was not going to go well and walked out of there when I noticed that most of the sales guys? Were wearing too short pants to show off their socks (or just ankles...) and were sausaged into shiny suit jackets that looked too small. Yech.
It was a miserable, depressing shopping trip. Tonight we'll check Macy's and Men's Warehouse, where I expect more crap.
