Menus. Yawn.

We ended up with an extra day of leftovers, and we went to an open house at one of dh's work colleagues on evening, so didn't eat that night... I still haven't made the matar paneer. It's not difficult, but a lot of work, and we're all too tired at dinner time. I do want to make the polenta dish, it's quite good.
What worked: blanching green beans and eating them later.
What made me laugh... Very clearly vegetable preparation is critical, even when they are teens!
I made "bourbon chicken" this week, from a recipe I found online. Meh. I'd rather perfect a recipe for teriyaki sauce as we get it around here or eat teriyaki. It was fine, just not something I'd bother to repeat.
We have a potluck on Tuesday night (the night before I have to weigh in at WW, WAH!), and it's our last one at Perry's school (WAH!!!!!)... and yet again, we're on the "main dish"/"salad" list. In all my years at that school, I don't think we've ever managed to have O come up as on the desserts list. Anyhow, I'll make muffuletta, or my face equivalent... though having tasted some of the "real" ones in New Orleans... I'm not doing too bad. I need to up my pickle game!
Monday: Bacon and pancakes (Linnea request)
Tuesday: Potluck. Muffuletta.
Wednesday: Mapo tofy, green beans, rice
Thursday: Salade nicoise (more green beans!)
Friday: Chicken and mushrooms, noodles, marsala sauce
Saturday: Paprika sausage, roasted potatoes and broccoli
Sunday: strata with apples, cheddar, shallots, applewood bacon
It's going to be another busy weekend with -at the very least- kid stuff to do both days, which really sucks when you want to do something a bit more involved, like, oh, hiking. Blah.

Parent asks Perry to put on broccoli to steam for dinner.
Perry puts on three florets (ok, maybe as many as 6) and we barely make a dent in the bag of broccoli.
Parent asks Perry to mix the broccoli with the olive oil in the 9*13 and toss it in the oven to roast.
Perry puts every single bit of broccoli he can find in the house into the roasting pan.
Not one tiny floret of broccoli remains in the roasting pan after dinner.
