Zombie invasion

What would you do if the zombies decided to try to take on the world? Would you go underground and try to hide? Would you fight back? Would you give up and get ready to die? Contrary to the belief of many, it is quite possible to survive a zombie invasion. There are multiple ways to do this. For the power hungry humans there is the option of taking control of the invasion and the zombies. For the cowards there is the floating city. For the warlike, there is the military tactic. Of such options, the most stable as well as the most dangerous, taking control of the invasion is probably the best idea.
No random weak minded person can attempt to take control of a force of 460 million (count as of the 2010 Level 4 Underworld Census). Only the wittiest, the quickest thinkers and the bravest (not to mention willing) should attempt to take control. There are several things that one must make sure of before even nearing a Zombie Compound (ZC). Make sure everyone in your society knows what you are doing, so they will not attack you, and make sure they will back you up. The last thing you want is both humans and zombies attacking you. When nearing the ZC, keep a positive outlook and do not look at the negative side of what you’re doing. Zombies -as it has been quickly found out by those who face a zombie- can smell someone’s fear and an anonymous zombie source said ““they taste better””(Nod, 2001 pg 32). As grueling as it may seem, bringing along a dead body to present to the zombies is not a terrible idea either. Just to bribe them but do not irritate them or you’ll be dead before you can even think up your dying words. Leer at them but not too much, they “will quickly fall into line if the person in potential control if that person knows they can be in control” (Nod, 2001, pg. 63. If you succeed and the zombies begin to see you as a potential leader, leave for 3 and let them think. During the next three days, assuming you don’t die in the meantime, prepare yourself. Make yourself look like Death as much as possible. Get used to carrying around a scythed made of black diamond and make sure the blade is carefully dipped in an aconite mixture each morning. As odd as it may seem, zombies “have a distinct fear of death and recognize the scythe’s symbolism. They also have a fear of black diamonds as well as the extremely deadly aconite” (Nod, 2001, pg 76). Ruling the zombies by installing fear into their minds is best. Never forget that they are your and the rest of humanity’s enemies. Once you have enough control, you can stop the invasion and save the world or you could also wipe humanity off the face of the earth. Your choice.
If taking over a group of bloodthirsty zombies does not come to your liking, and you would prefer to run away, there is the next option. Get up into the air. Get your home or better yet your entire city if you can organize it, up into the air. Amongst their other fears, zombies have a “great dislike towards heights and will do anything to avoid them” (Nod, 2001, pg 86). Zombies also have a harder time breathing in high altitude (Zombies 101, Nooperstein, 2001, pg 982). Following, are the steps of how to get your city up into the sky. Make sure that you have support from the city council as well as the population.
1. Plant a large network of dynamite beneath the city AT LEAST 100 feet below the waterways.
2. Evacuate the city for a short amount of time then detonate
3. Have everyone in the city help to install propellers beneath the city in the space left by the explosions. Motors and engines should already be prepared
4. Make sure there is an anchor
5. Get the city into the sky. You will be well out of reach of any of the zombies even the gutsy ones.
Granted, if you have a fear of heights and also don’t feel like leading the zombies, the last option is the only one left for you.
Your last option that won’t get you killed at this point is to take a militaristic standpoint and make your own army or fight alone. This may be difficult but it is worth it. It is also probably the most complicated of the choices. There are many obstacles when it comes to arming your troops. Whatever weapons you choose, do NOT use long range weapons. Zombies can “sense movement” (Nod, 2001, pg. 96) and will easily be able to avoid a flying bullet. Snipers are not a good idea. Guns can however be used. As long as they are close range. Handguns, Rifles, machine guns, and shotguns are the best choice for close ranged attacks. All bullets must be dipped into the aconite mixture in order to ensure the zombie’s death. If you are strong in hand to hand combat, that is also possible. Make sure you are wearing battle gloves. During a fight, make sure there are few Zombies in the area. A Zombie’s bone structure is generally “structurally unsound” (Nod, 2001 pg. 172) so during a fight, come up from beneath the jaw to snap the head back and it will go flying. Make sure you are out of the way of the zombie’s teeth as they will not only hurt in a first strike against your body and are quite sharp, but any flesh that comes into contact with those teeth will begin to disintegrate. Other than that, it’s back to the Middle Ages where daggers and various knives, swords and other close combat weapons are the best choice. Melee weapons are probably the best choice. Although it puts the wielders in more danger, it is more likely to ensure the death of the zombies. In addition, the larger the weapon, the more likely the zombies are to make a retreat. “They may be dead, but they certainly aren’t stupid.” (Nod, 2001 pg 143). Any swords broad and great swords are preferable as the sheer force behind the weapon using both its weight and momentum will send zombies flying. Zombies are “quite light for their ferociousness” (Nob, 2001, pg 372]. Other than that, there are no other possible options.
If none of these options come to your liking you will most likely end up dead before the end of the invasion. Zombies have been around for millions of years and their intelligence has grown. In the heat of an invasion, humans will be struck by the fear of death and then afterwards joining the zombies in an attack against humanity. But, this can be stopped and it is possible to survive. Take control of them, flee into the sky, or become a trooper.
