Crappy book warning.
19 Jan 2012 18:07I should have a review of a good book in a few days, but in the meanwhile, a warning.
The Dragon's Tooth: Ashtown Burials #1 by N.D. Wilson.
What a POS.
I've been finding that YA fantasy is really good, on average, but this book? Takes the average of the whole genre down, since I'd give it a negative rating if I could. It's stupid, the characters are inane, the story is boring, confusing, and idiotic, and he tries to be "obscure" so as not to give anything away and ends up being obtuse. His world building is boring at best, his dialog stupid, and he did not manage to create a single memorable character.
It wasn't even one of those train wreck bads that are at least interesting in their badness. This was flat out boring, insipid, and well, stupid. The author, btw, looks like a self satisfied jerk. I didn't see his photo til after I read the book, though.
Colour me not impressed at all. As in, this book is a serious waste of paper.
