I'm sick to my stomach over Haiti... just sick.

As if that poor country needed this.

Donate if you can. We are. Even Perry, who has $25 from his birthday, is donating $20. He volunteered after listening to Bill Clinton on NPR. The girls were asleep at the time -tired after school- but I'll actually ask them. Funny thing: I rashly volunteered to match anything he was willing to donate, and Microsoft will match the whole mess...

Oh wait. Perry has just talked to AC, who just volunteered $50, and they pressured Linnea to donate $5. I'm on the hook for $75 just for them. Heh.

Good for Perry! Have you all picked an organization to receive your funds? I know that Cisco tended to funnel their matching donations through certain approved groups, but that list was pretty big now that I think about...

MS is pretty good about having a whole bunch of places they'll match to: I don't think I've ever found a real 501c3 or whatever that they don't allow.

The kids want to donate to Unicef: they do the Trick or Treat thing, and they both recognised the name. Not my favourite choice, but it's important to them, so we'll do that. They'll get the kids $, our match, and MS's match to that.

Then dh and I are donating as well, probably Doctor Without Borders, and maybe the Clinton Foundation.

Found out later on Friday that our kids' school is collecting for Doctors w/o Borders. And Zane's class is collecting for a nursing school in Haiti that was started (?) by a UM nursing prof. http://www.haitinursing.org/ The grandma of one of his classmates is somehow affiliated with the foundation. They came up with this idea while discussing their writing prompt for the day on Wednesday (in prep for MLK day), "Make a list of ten things that you can do to make the world a better place."
