I absolutely adore Taylor Swift.

Not her music, which is really not my genre, though the lyrics, when read, do often resonate.

No, Taylor Swift, the woman, the cultural phenomenon, the person who is taking the world by storm and creating a mania that is... making people happy. I just love it, love the fact that a young woman is creating this energy, this joy.

I'm an introvert. Still, even at the smaller metal concerts I've gone to, I've felt and embraced the energy of the crowd, and loved it, and wondered if that's what extroverts feel all the time! I can just begin to imagine the wonderous, excited and exciting feelings that all those people, most recently at Wembley Stadium in London, are sharing.

I mean, how awesome is all this?

I love that she's unapologetically Taylor Swift. And I'll happily and proudly call myself a Swiftie.

I'll probably never go to a Swift concert. I could not deal with the crowds and I'm self-aware enough to know it. Some visit to my sister, I'll try to check out the movies of the show, because I'd like to see it, even though I know much of the energy will be missing.

You go, girl!

My sister-in-law and a nephew went to one of the Houston shows last year. She commented how different it felt to be in what is typically a masculine-energy space (sports ball arena) but surrounded instead by positive powerful female energy. I saw the movie in a theater last year and while it was great, I do know I missed out on crowd energy (there were some other people there - including girls who got up and danced during the Red era - but it was not packed by any means).

(and replying to my own comment:) her song "The Man" is in a playlist that I used during a 10K a couple weeks ago. Didn't get to custom craft a playlist because Matthew decided that morning that his back hurt too much to run with me. Anyway, this 10K ends with an uphill climb of almost a mile. And what song was playing during that climb? What lyrics did I hear?
"I'm so sick of running as fast as I can
Wondering if I'd get there quicker
If I was a man"
not really the best motivation for an uphill finish!
