Random stuff on Linnea's bday.

What I sent my family this moring:


I think this is the proper declination... but sic vicit gloria matris… thus passes the glory of the mother, who used to be the sticky bun baker. Perry's are better than mine.


He made the dough, I decided when it was proofed enough, made the rolls, put them the fridge to finish proofing overnight, and then baked 'em this morning, but his dough is seriously and objectively great, pillowy and delicious.

We have, of course, saved some for him, but he's rowing and coaching this morning and won't get them until this afternoon.



We made a mocha cake for her birthday: cake, ganache filling, buttercream. As usual, I made the components, dh turned them into something that looks like it's worth eating.

y'all don't put pecans on your sticky buns? Happy belated birthday to Linnea! Isn't it weird/slightly sad to no longer have teens?

No pecans. None of us will eat baked goods with nuts in them! Heh. Aside from Perry who isn't fond of any nuts (though he will eat Nutella and Skippy/Jif type peanut butter in small amount), we all will eat nuts, just not in cookies, quick breads, brownies, sticky buns etc.

Those both look absolutely amazing. 10/10 would eat. ;) August isn't happening, but it looks like I'll be up there in September.

When in September? My September is rapidly turning into a chaotic nightmare, even if it's good stuff (brother coming to visit, spending some time in Vancouver we think, then camping at Crater Lake) the first few weeks of the months are going to trend towards total chaos. Hopefully we can get this to work, though, I really want to see you!
