Sick to my stomach
8 Nov 2022 20:54Also, comments like:
"Given the fundamentals, this is now shaping up to be a very bad night for Republicans."
and
"One potential takeaway from tonight is that the US is a center left country with a gerrymandering problem."
and
"The only gains R really made were the ones that were gerrymandered into existence."
and
"It's not a bloodbath, it's barely some spotting."
truly don't help.
Trying to put a "it could have been worse" or "oh, they had to cheat to win" ignore the new fundamental reality on the ground: this is the playing field we have, thanks to the midterm losses in 2010, and all the precious little privileged brats who just couldn't bring themselves to vote for Clinton. We're living in a country where an autocratic christo-fascist minority is going to rule over the rest of us.
Also, WTF, Kentucky? Strong support for the measure that supports abortion and then electing a whole bunch of people that are going to work for a national ban? Are you that dumb?
And get used to Biden being described as "the thrice-impeached president".
ETA 22:22 Hum. Some better news. We probably won't pull it off, but it's closer than it looked earlier.
