Linnea rows on Lake Sammish up in Whatcom County. That area has been hit with some pretty horrid flooding this past week.
The lake has a bridge crossing it that even in the best of times is a bit of a tight fit for the boats, new coxswains hate it. To give an idea: Bridge over Lake Sammish.
The lake is very high up and Linnea's coach posted a photo of their dock which is floating well above where it should be floating. Linnea sent that photo to us.
This led to this following exchange:
Linnea: Coach sent us this photo and at first I thought "cool photo, coach!"
..oh...
Perry: When the dock you launch from is higher than the land....
Dh: Oh dear... Still, looks like you've got a couple feet left before the dock is at risk of floating off into the sunset...
Me: Yeah the word is that Lake Whatcom was about a foot over its normal level (with all dams etc open trying to drain to creeks) so I can't imagine Sammish was any better.
Linnea: I guess with "flooding on Samish way" the lake was bound to be like 3 inches higher... If fitting under the bridge wasn't already a right squeeze now it's even worse
Me: Coxswain: "Everyone lie down in the boat on my count.... One.... Two... Down!"
Linnea: I don't know if we could get that much coordination...
Me: Big. Stone. Bridge. About. To. Hit. You. In. The. Head.
Me: You'd get the coordination, lol.
Linnea: And not *bonk* *bonk* *bonk* *bonk* *bonk* *bonk* *bonk* *bonk*?
Me: LOL. OMG. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Linnea: With like a 1 second interval between each bonk...
I'm still snorting at the '*bonk* *bonk* *bonk*'.
