nwhikerWell, so much for that. They pretty much crushed any hope she had about getting onto the rowing team today by telling her that if she did make the team, she'd have to be a cox.
I'm really tired of the tyranny of tall in sports, especially as all programs and orgs are moving away from lightweight boats, where someone Linnea's size has value. Ah well.
Poor kid. She'll take it, of course, if offered, and get up at 4am every morning to sit on her ass, freezing cold, in a boat, doing something she a) hates and b) is terrible at. b) is the difficult part. She'd at least, she thinks, be able to work out with the team in the afternoon, so she wouldn't be going from rowing several hours a day like she did all summer to totally sedentary.
Her siblings were incredibly supportive over text. That was SO good to see.
