1. OMG. How fucking typical. My SIL managed to get her son signed up (for free) for a week long canoe camping trip in the North Cascades. Yay, right? The kid doesn't want to go (he's not very athletic, has never been away at all from his mom, my MIL, or his dad, and has never camped, or hiked), but she's insisting. I think he'd have a great time for 3 days, NSM for a whole week. He needs a whole lot of expensive gear. Which, according to the phone call I'm listening to, she expects us to figure out and provide. WTF? The two big ones are sleeping bag and dry bag, and Perry uses his dry bag on a regular basis and all of our sleeping bags are rather nice (and purchased at the REI scratch and dent) and I'm not sure I want to loan those out. UGH. How did this become our problem?

2. I really want to start a tradition for my family that a friend of mine named jilz did with her family for many years, from when her kids went to college back in the 80s: she called it Second Sunday Supper: on the second Sunday of each month, everyone tried to make it to dinner. Typically, she'd make lasagna or big dishes of pasta or stuff like that. Her kids, their partners, her extended family, all were welcome. My gatherings would be a lot smaller (I don't have 5 kids and iirc 3 or 4 siblings with a buttload of nieces and nephews!), but when my kids get together, it's easy to see that they like each other and this would provide a way for them to see each other on a regular basis. I'd of course invited MIL, SIL (sigh) and anyone else who can make, and bring SOs and friends, but I'd just like to start something like that now, as Linnea leaves for college, especially after seeing so very little of AC when she was with Dipshit. I'm going to toss the idea out tonight, she's coming over for dinner. That said, I expect in our case, it'll be Second SATURDAY Supper, since that's easier for us.

3. OMG. I bought this Dish Drying Rack,20" x 13" Roll up Sink Drying Rack,Over Sink Dish Rack and I already adore it. Previously I used some drying mats, but the cats would sleep on them if they could find ANY room at all on 'em or if someone forgot to put them away after putting away the hand washed dishes, and because they were acrylic, they retained hair and I had to spend so much time washing and de-hairing them. I hope this racks continues to work and that I don't discover that it's really not going to work because of something the cats do, LOL.
