Just random shit. I should put it in different font colors to make it more interesting, LOL. As if anything could help this post...

Bend was a good visit. It's heartbreaking to see my mom decline. Each conversation in itself is perfectly fine, but then you have the same conversation many times in a row. She also won't wear her hearing aids, so our Skype calls have become painful experiences when she repeats the same things over and over, loudly, because she can't hear what anyone else is saying because hearing aids, and she fears silence. It's.... difficult.

Remember that heat wave? It was awful. We hit 110F. Yesterday, however, it was 65F in the house and we turned on the heat. WTF summer of 2021?

Linnea is on the couch moping. Perry made a judgement error on the water this morning, and she -and the rest of the team, from older HS kids to college students- followed him. She's beating herself up for following him. And yes, they all got in trouble, Perry in particular, fwiw. Perry's been rowing for 9 years now and I've never heard of him EVER making a judgement error on the water. As in, ever. As in his former coach actually mentioned that at a senior sports dinner, that in her years of coaching Perry he'd been 100% reliable on the water. Anyhow, Linnea is devastated because of this. To add to her misery, just as they were leaving the dock in the launch, I came to pick her up, and Perry had to return to the dock to drop her off. She's terrified that the head coach is going to get on his case, -and hers- for that too. I think she's stressed and tired, all these days of getting up at 3:45am are getting to her.

I gave a friend a copy of my 3/4 done novel and she really liked it. I know it's a friendly review, so kind and indulgent, but it's still nice to have some positive feedback!

I was writing this post and went to read for a while. And OMG, something got fucked up on my computer... cat? Windows? the pos computer itself? the latter is the most likely... Anyhow, now the font on this window is tiny. Who knows. Hopefully it'll sort itself out.

Saving this now, so I can work on figuring out my effed up display. All I can say is Never EVER buy an MSI computer. I've had more problems with this computer in 9 months than I had with my previous one in over 5 years. I'd have returned it, only the problems started cropping up right AFTER it was out of Costco's will take it back for any reasons warranty. I hate it.

My dad is pretty close to deaf, and has a closed-caption phone. That helps, except then he starts reading it back - not just the previous statement, but lots and lots of previous statements. Frustrating! Makes it very hard to have an actual conversation.
