nwhikerHad to get up early this morning (on my birthday, dammit) to rush to Costco to get in line before opening to see if I could score one of the eight air conditioners slated to come in.
I did. I got there an hour early, and was #7. Luckily, the group of three people ahead of me in line were not allowed to purchase three units on one membership, which, they happily told the dude who came out to hand us our numbered cards, they shared between three households.
Why was I purchasing an AC when we have central air?
Well, needless to say, my stupid SIL didn't bother to plan, and yesterday afternoon texted dh telling him she needed money for a hotel for her, her son, and her dogs. And could we make the reservation, because she doesn't have a credit card. Because she'd "looked at all her options" and that was the only one. Hotel? LOL, no, not happening. Plus her dogs are not housebroken and they pee and poop in the house, so NO WAY were we making reservations anywhere for her, to get hit with the damage bill later.
We spent a few hours trying to locate an AC unit anywhere within 100 miles but duh, no dice. I called Costco and they told me that there would be 8 units at my Costco this morning. So there I went. Dh was at home, he had a training session for the volunteer computer science teaching he's going to be doing next year.
Almost $650, which is more expensive than the hotel would be, but at least this should solve the problem for the medium to long term.
