My stupid SIL didn't want to go to get her son's school packet for the semester, and was going to.. well, I dunno what? Have them mail it? Anyhow, MIL said "not ok" and she went to pick it up at the middle school where.....

... she was potentially exposed to covid-19. Probably not because it was a drive through, everyone masked and gloved, but one of the volunteers tested positive, so something like 20% chance that "her" volunteer is the one. That was a week ago.

FML.

Normally, this would only impact us by being worried for her.

Except that her car needed some work so dh went over there. And OMG, fucking stupidly stayed around to chat with her for about fifteen minutes. Inside. WTF was he thinking? He's one of the brightest people I know and then he pulls shit like this. You don't go into people's houses! EVER.

Probability is low, but. But.

And she's kinda like oh, I'll call tomorrow and leave a message for the doctor about getting a test. No. You effing GET TESTED TOMORROW.

I don't know what to do about the rest of us. The probabilities are low enough that I'm not really freaking out yet, but I am freaking out because Perry and Linnea go to rowing, I've been going to the lab, and now all this is potentially compromised.

So I'm scared. With the new easily transmitted variants, even the casual contact MIL had might be enough. And I hate all the moving pieces. Do we all need to quarantine now? If dh caught it, we all have it, but that's all dependent on the person who came to MIL's car window being positive to blah blah blah.
