Total bust, alas
30 Oct 2021 20:40Nothing, at least not yet, but the consensus from the various space weather places we've been following was that the particles arrived earlier than expected, so nothing left for the US west coast.
We're in a kitschy little cottage straight out of the... 60s? 70s? The era of vacation rental cottages, kinda. With a wood burning fire, so nice, and a private beach.
We stayed on the beach for a few hours, sunset until just now. I'll probably check a few more times before bed just in case, but the odds are not good (read: it's not just that they're not good, they're non existent.)
As well. It was a crap shoot.
I'm just going to go to freaking Iceland.
ETA Well, there is word on the street (or at least the twitter feed of the NWS in Seattle) that the required Kp level won't be happening until early tomorrow morning, so 2am to 5am might be The Time to be watching. Linnea has an alarm set for 3am (her usual wake up time is 3:45am, so not too far off, ugh), and I'll try to stay awake until two. We shall see.
