Tomorrow, it gets real

Classes start tomorrow for Linnea. So far, she's been having a blast, wandering around campus, sending us photos of her meals at the cafeteria, chatting about this and that, and getting annoyed that her student ID is still AWOL, which means no going to the gym. (*) and (**). Her big worry right now is getting onto the crew team. It's hard to say. Most of the time, I don't think she has a prayer in hell, but then I remember how many of her coaches have told us how much positive energy she brings to a boat, and how she could always be relied on to put out her best effort. If that comes across during tryouts, she might have a but more of a chance. I know I sound like a crazy sports mom, but a) I know what happens to that kid when she doesn't get enough exercise, and it's not pretty and b) it would a community where she'd fit in and a support structure away from academics, which she needs. We shall see.

Fingers crossed that things go well for her! I'm so nervous. And I dunno if I mentioned it, but Perry got into biochem, so he'll be taking linear algebra, physics, biochem, and French (finishing up his French minor, iirc). I hope he does well.

One more Perry and Linnea brag: The appreciation post from their coach/employer. For Perry's other coaching job, they took him out for breakfast, everyone had signed a t-shirt for him (which really touched the boyo), they have him a gift certificate, and were shocked to find out that he isn't 21 yet, but are planning on taking him out for a drink next December, lol.

(*) She sent them her photo etc three weeks ago (one day late, to be fair), and they said it would take "about two weeks" to get the ID. It's been over three. I'm annoyed.

(**) The only valid ID she has right now is her passport. She wanted to take it with her, but I 100% nixed that idea. It's the only ID she has that can be used to get other ID and I don't want to take any risks with that. We were supposed to get her an enhanced ID to fly with (since she doesn't have a DL of any sort yet!), but didn't expect a two month wait on appointments! I snagged one for early October.
