Managed to get out early, yay us, drove pretty close to straight through.
We had to go a way we loathe because... well, last year, the road we prefer was closed because of fires. Found out from my BIL that basically the town of Detroit (OR) and several states parks in the area were pretty much wiped off the map. :( The road is open, but with a time limit, we needed to be home for Linnea's rowing, we didn't want to change going that way, there is apparently a lot of work going on to clear the area etc. I expect I'll cry the next time I drive through, it was a beautiful area.
But we're home. House is a mess, cats are happy to see us. It's HOT here, like 67F, which is too hot. Hard to believe that it we got caught in the Pass with snow on Saturday morning, LOL.
But yeah.
It was so incredible to see my sister, mom, and BIL. My mom's 80th bday was yesterday, and we had a decent time. She's truly slipping, sigh, though at times she seems totally clear and oriented, at others... NSM. She asks my sister at least twice, twice a day, what all the pills she has to take are for... but then again, was completely able to hold a conversation about Chauvin, George Floyd, the Capitol Hill insurrection. She might miss the names, but remembers the events clearly for example, "I'm watching the trial of the policeman that knelt on that poor guy's neck" and goes on to slag on the defense. Still. Not good. Anyhow.
She has a PET scan this Friday. My sister is freaking out and upset. I'm not. YET. I just feel like I don't have enough data to freak out and be upset YET. Right now preponderance of evidence and two MDs, one a lung specialist, won't give numerical odds, but say it's less likely to be cancer than something else. Anyhow.
Ah well. Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight!
