Perry missed the cues

I was in stage 4, Lost to reality Reading, about 97% done with my book when Perry came over to talk mindlessly at me.
He did survive, but he also got his head figuratively bit off.
How, after all of these years, can one of my kids not recognize the 'almost done, leave me the eff ALONE' signs? Yipes.
The book?
The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow.
It's so very good. I read _The Ten Thousand Doors of January_ a while back and it was good. This one is a step and a bit beyond.
Beautifully written, a book about books, about women, about women changing their world, at whatever cost it takes.
It was wonderful. It started loosely pulling me in, but the bounds grew tighter with every event and every chapter.
Totally recommend!
