Well.

Looks like Biden has said that 19 April, not 1 May, is going to be the day that everyone should be eligible for the vaccine.

Well.

That was the date WA was going to open up to people like me, over 50 with one comorbidity.

Which means... dh and I and our cohort will not get a two week jump on the Whole Rest of the State and will be fighting for vaccine along with everyone else.

Sigh.

I've been laughing bitterly to myself. GenX really got fucked in this whole vaccine rollout. Not old enough for vaccines but mostly old enough to have one comorbidity or another.

So. Costco chicken potpie. Normal procedure. Allow pie to freeze to semi-gelid form, cut in two, using tin snips on the pie pan. Eat 1/2. Freeze 1/2 for a further meal. Obviously, if there are enough people to eat a full pie, it's much much easier that way. But.

We bought a potpie last week but something -homework? fatigue?- prevented us from doing the cutting that evening. So pie went into the freezer from which it emerged this evening. Frozen. SOLID. As in a pie shaped chicken and carrot ice cube.

It must, however be cut in two. How to manage this feat? (NOT FEET, McEnany!)

My idea: use the freaking table saw. Or maybe a chop saw. Basically, power tools. Ever since I saw what a Sawzall did to a big cardboard box, I've been all about the power tools for solving problems. If the deadbody was cut up with a power tool? It was me. Which would be easy to determine, btw, because as a lefty I almost NEVER go near the power tools. Too many of them require control via the right hand and my right hand is just there to type on half the keyboard.

Dh, however, decide to channel his inner caveman -alternate explanation: software engineers with hardware tools are dangerous beings-. Enter a chisel, and a ball-peen hammer.

And.... much chiseling happens. Frozen bits of carrot and chicken spewed forth! But victory to the caveman because... Enough depth and.... you can snap it in two.

Half the potpie in the oven, for dinner late tonight. The other half is back in the freezer..

I have an idea for next time that should completely fix this... when we bring the pie home and it's still unfrozen, insert a long thin piece of cardboard covered with foil or parchment down the center and let it freeze that way. We'll see.
