Three things for Sunday
21 Mar 2021 14:211. Linnea did not get into UW, which we expected. She was waitlisted at the branch campus. We wrote a short letter this morning, to give some additional information about her in hopes of getting her in. I looked at the numbers for kids with LDs in college, and they're not great, to say the least (most don't go to college, of those that do, fewer than 30% graduate, living at home helps a lot.).
2. Also about Linnea. One of her friends pranked her and a few other friends in a bit of a scary manner. Dh was about to call the police non-emergency number kinds of scary. Sigh. The good part? As soon as she saw the first prank texts, sent to another friend, she told them not to respond, to tell their parents, and came to tell us that her friend had gotten those texts. Then, when she got some this morning, she, again, immediately came to us.
3. Next week I have to be in the lab four days in a row. Blah. That's a lot of driving. My advisor might be able to spare me one of the days, I hope she can, because otherwise, ugh. Lots of E coli work, and once that starts, it has to be done regularly, can't really tell the bacteria to stop multiplying while you get a day's rest at home. Anyhow.
