School: it's official
22 Jul 2020 14:01School will not go on as planned this fall, online only, with periodic evaluations to determine what the risk of moving from all online to hybrid to reopen.
I feel so very lucky to have a district superintendent who is on the ball. We were the first district in the US to actually close and move online, at least a week before the other schools around here, and considering how close we were to the then-epicenter of the epidemic, I suspect that early decision saved people and reduced spread.
So yeah.
Linnea is not thrilled, but had been expecting it.
I think the rowing club is planning on buying more singles. Single sculling is not the usual goal of high school rowing programs, but I expect that keeping the kids on the water in hopes that there will be a spring season in eights is the goal.
Plan: camping in Yellowstone for mid-September. There are a few places with cell service. Neither dh nor Linnea have heard of my plan yet, so it may be pie-in-the-sky, but I so love going late in the year when it's cooler.
ETA I was confirming what I'd remembered about cell coverage in the park and found this:
Yeah, backpacking is awesome when you have kids and llamas to haul your gear! :) I never quite managed to offload all of our gear onto the kids damnit! Maybe if they were sharing the load with llamas, it would be easier.
