Wow. I'm looking at the voting in the Georgia primary and the voter suppression and utter incompetence is breathtaking.

Hours long lines, machines not working (and probably inaccurate when they do work), and 20 provisional ballots/paper ballots that were used up in three seconds or some such. Absentee ballots that didn't show up.

It's been bad elsewhere, but this is beyond the pale.

I know Stacey Abrams has tried, but as long as Brian Kemp and his ilk are running the state, it seems like a hopeless job with a lot of money wasted.

People are talking about nominating Abrams to help turn Georgia blue. There are reasons for and against Abrams as VP (not going to go there right now), but this should not be part of the calculation.

Under the current circumstances of voter-suppression-hungry Republicans in office, a pandemic which will probably be back in full swing in Nov (if it ever leaves full swing over the summer...), and only five months until election day... Georgia needs to be ceded.

There is just no rationale for spending money in in a state where the chance of Dems winning is marginal at best under these conditions. You could pour money into the state and nothing would make a difference. I know that polling shows that Biden/Dems have a chance of taking GA blue.

It doesn't matter if people want to vote for Democrats if they can't vote at all.

In normal times, this would be call to action.

These are not normal times.

We need to focus on winning the ones that are not 100% corrupt, MI, PA, WI.

If we want to put money in marginal red states, it needs to go to local state house/senate races, not the big national ones. We won't win the latter in all probability anyhow, and the former will control things like post-census redistricting and voting. Ideally, attention should be paid to secretary of state races, or wherever elections are controlled. If we truly want to make Georgia blue, we need to do it from the bottom up.

There are actually two Senate races at stake, and one candidate is that peach of grift, dishonesty, and corruption herself, Kelly Loeffler, the other matches her in most ways, David Perdue, but at least didn't lie about the pandemic to make extra money. I hate to see these left to the Republicans with little to no fight, but I can't see sinking a lot of money there were there are more winnable Senate elections out there (Colorado, Montana, Maine, Arizona -also two seats- and maybe even Iowa.)

But what do I know? This blog post worth exactly what you paid to read it! :)

ETA: there is only one seat in AZ. I was confused because McSally, who lost to Sinema in 2018, was appointed to the seat, and is now up again Astronaut Mark (right?) Kelly. My bad.
