Random Sunday Stuff.
12 Jan 2020 20:41We got up late (well, I at least have an excuse. I woke up in the middle of the night, couldn't get back to sleep, and ended up reading for a few hours). Anyhow, right after getting up, we headed off to tromp through the woods. Weather was spitting a bit of rain, but nothing awful.
Snow and bad weather were expected in the area today (winter storm warning and all that), but because I'm an idiot, I still had shopping to do. Not storm provisions, just general shopping.
So we headed straight to Costco. Got out of the car, about fifteen minutes after leaving the park at the top of the kill. And it was significantly colder. Shopped in the utter freaking zoo filled with panicking people that was Costco.
Came out to wind blowing ice into our faces.
As we drove home, the ice in the wind turned to snow, which got worse and worse. One more stop, then gas, and finally home. There was about 1in on the ground, with more expected overnight. We'll see.
Since it's not culturally sensitive to say that Linnea was doing a snow dance (she was), I'll call it a snow-wiggle-and-squiggle, as she attempted to persuade the weather gods to dump enough white stuff for school to be cancelled tomorrow.
I have things to do up in the lab, so I do not want school to be cancelled or the weather to be awful.
Anyhow, lazy afternoon, I made mushroom bourguignon from Smitten Kitchen, and yes, it's 9pm and no we haven't eaten yet, that's how we roll.
Menus for the week... but only through Friday because... I get to go visit a friend in California next weekend and I'm so freaking excited!!!!!!
Monday: moussaka.
Tuesday: chicken breast, roasted potatoes and Brussels sprouts.
Wednesday: scrambled eggs and mushrooms with tortillas. I have some hot dogs left over from NYE to add to Linnea and dh's.
Thursday: chicken tikka masala (from Costco), naan (from Costco), roasted cauliflower.
Friday: leftovers/cereal, whatever. Early morning flight WHEE!!!!
I ended up doing two days of leftovers last week, so the tikka masala got pushed to this week.
4in of snow and it's still coming down.
Ah well.
