Years and years ago, when he was just a little boy and still reading actual books (now he reads nothing that is not part of a game), I was trying to persuade Perry to read the HP series.
I came up with a brilliant idea: I told him that as long as he was reading book 1 I would make him scrambled eggs with lots of butter and cheese for breakfast. Dh told me the kid was going to milk that for all it was worth and I'd be making scrambled eggs for the rest of the summer.
I think I had to make one scrambled eggs breakfast. He tore through the series, and really loved it.
Bribery for his own good, right?
Well, I've resorted to bribery again. Since he no longer reads as naturally as he once did, he's been ignoring my pleas to read _Good Omens_. Part of it is bad experiences with Neil Gaiman (see my post on _Coraline_ and he despised _The Graveyard Book_) and not even "but... but... Terry Pratchett!" is enough to balance that out.
The other day I went to the British store to see if they had a brand of tea that I like (they didn't) and Perry wanted a jam cake and a chicken curry pie.
So I bought them for him if he would read _Good Omens_. :)
It's on his Kindle, and I'll bug him over the holiday, but I'm only being this annoying about it because I know he'll love it.
Just like so long ago, I knew he'd love Harry Potter.
