Book review: Divergent by Veronica Roth

Divergent by Veronica Roth.

This was recc'ed to me by someone, but I don't remember who. What a piece of crap. Ugh. There are a whole bunch of dystopian future books written by very young women straight out of -or still in- college, and they seem to have a demographic that gets them published. But while some of their books are good, others are... SHIT. This one is the latter.

I read thewhole thing, kept on thinking that at some point, the reason for all of this would be given, but she has no back story, no motivation, no rhyme nor reason for the situation the new world is in, no, well, nothing. Ick.

Her main character is so phenomenal as to be unbelievable. The romance was punch in your face stupidly obvious and just inane.

The writing was flat out atrocious. One example? She uses, on average, the word "smirk" every two or three pages.

There might have been some good things about the book -actually maybe there weren't- but they would have been too buried in the crap for anyone to notice
