I have an excellent congresscritter: Jay Inslee. He's a strong liberal, one of the liberals who actually does things, quietly and sometimes behind the scenes, but efficiently and constantly.

He's going to vacate his seat to run for gov. He is going to lose that race. The R guy who is running, Rob McKenna has been the state's AG, and is perceived as moderate. Heck, let's be honest. Compared to most of what is now labelled R McKenna is a moderate. He's been a decent AG, fwiw. Eastern WA, the conservative side of the mountains, isn't going to matter, really: what will matter is the division of votes in the Puget Sound area. Where McKenna is seen as a moderate, remember? I don't think Inslee can win big enough in the Puget Sound to make up what is always a bloodbath on the other side of the Cascades. This makes me sad.

Dh and I will probably volunteer for his campaign. I won't work for Obama, neither will dh, so this will give us something positive to focus on in 2012.

And then there is the scary part? Who is going to replace Inslee in my district? Hard to tell, Jay has been winning easily for the past few years. The problem? Dennis Kucinich is thinking about carpetbagging in to run. Ick. I mean, I like his policies, don't get me wrong, but like Seattle's Jim McDemott, he's the kind of liberal who waves a lot of liberal arms around and in the end? Gets nothing positive done. Pretty much the opposite of Inslee. I'm not sure Kucinich can win this district, and we could get stuck with a scary thug, which would irk me.

Blah.
