We angered the Cat Gods.

nwhikerTwisp and Auri have never really slept with us. When they were first here, they did, but as soon as they integrated with BamBam to the General Population, no, because BamBam peed on beds, my bed specifically, so they were all kept out of the bedroom at night.
Now BamBam gets locked up in one of the kids' rooms at night, since he's a bully who beats up Auri. :(
The cats sometimes spend the night in our room, but usually not on the bed.
Last night, dh was trying to persuade Twisp to hop on the bed. No dice. I warned him that he'd regret asking when Twisp forced him to sleep like a pretzel and he ended up the next morning with a sore back and a stiff neck, and Twisp sprawled unconcerned on the bed.
No, he said. Twisp would be on the floor by then, looking at him innocently "Who me? Force you to sleep like a pretzels? Look dude, I am not responsible for your sleeping choices."
My warning and his mockery must have offended Ceiling Cat, or Bast or whatever Cat God.
Cue feline Greek Chorus: "Foolish humans should never mock Cat!"
Because.
I woke up at about 4am with my feet out of the duvet and, really, hanging over the edge of the bed. Not comfortable at all.
I tried to put my feet where they belonged, under the duvet at the bottom of the bed. Only there was a cat there. 8lb Auri had deployed full cat gravity, increasing her mass at least tenfold, and I could not, in the "I'm so freaking tired" time of night get her to budge.
No problem, I thought. I'll just put my feet on the other side of her, towards the middle of the bed.
Only to find dh's feet there, and to notice that dh was sleeping on a diagonal in the bed.
And that Twisp was at the foot of the bed on his side.
I pushed a shoved a bit, but ended up... sleeping pretzeled and I ended up with the sore back.
