Weekend drive home
11 Oct 2020 22:37It was a nice drive home. We went the Yakima route, so lots of high desert, windmills, and the Columbia Gorge.
Linnea detests windmills. She was not too happy.
We stopped for lunch at a state park right over the bridge from OR, and threw rocks in the water. None of us can resist the temptation to throw rocks in water.

Dh was skipping rocks and gave Linnea another how-to. I have to go for a refresher in rock skipping 101. I used to be able to do it, but in the past two or three years, I've not managed to skip more than a tiny fraction of the rocks I've tried to. I hate losing skills. Blah.
Linnea needed some photos for Instagram so I took a few. Here's the one she ended up posting:

On our last road trip we started _Symbiont_ by Mira Grant aka Seanan McGuire. I'm not liking this book as much as I liked the first, it feels like it needed a good edit. Sigh. It's pretty long, and didn't quite need to be, there is lots of repetition. We have about another hour left, we'll have to go somewhere in the next few weeks to finish it up!
In personal news: I managed a trip down to Bend (6-8 hours in the car, several meals "out"), a weekend at my sister's, and the trip back and stayed within my WW points the whole time. Like for many, travel is a tough time for me, since it's just So Much Easier just to go with the flow and eat the hotel brekkie, but I'd packed my yogurt, fruit, and cereal and ate that. Small victory for me. Managed my steps every day too. Got home at about 9:45 this evening, unloaded the car, and headed out to loop the neighbourhood to get the rest of my steps in for the day.
All in all, it was a good weekend, I truly love my family.
And now, bed!
