One of those items that you buy that turns out to be Worth Every Penny: this pitcher from amazon.

I like making ice tea, but I will not pour hot water into plastic, so I've been more or less stuck making the tea in a glass pot and then once it's cooled, transferring it to my plastic pitcher.

Bought this thing. I pour the boiling water straight in from the kettle, since I don't have the guts to actually put the thing on the flame like some commenters say they have. Let cool, add some water, chill.

I'm really happy with it. And it's pretty to boot.
