Effing school tech.

Me last week: Linnea, what's your school account status? I'm seeing a lot of emails did you login etc? Can we help?
Linnea last week: I've got it. I don't need any help.
This morning, 2:17AM. Awake. Cannot fall back asleep. Read for about 40 minutes. Finally fall asleep.
This morning, 4:30AM. Me: wake up to anxiety attack. Finally fall back asleep at about 7:00, even though I should get up.
This morning, 8:30AM. Wake up to phone texting chime (it's in the other room). And chime. And chime. Apparently 21 today by the time I get my teeth brushed. Between dh and Linnea.
Who cannot get her tech straight.
The tech I asked her about last week.
Emergency tech support, find out that this message from the district is bunk:
Well, not exactly. We now have the district portal, parentvue, schoology AND clever. Before, we just had parentvue. I set up clever, and stupidly thought that it was the same as schoology and that everything would be done via that. Well, no. It's a mess. And Linnea has her stupid evil school google account and her google drive and google classroom but submitting assignments from there (like she did last year) seems to submit them BUT doesn't trigger the assignment completed in Schoology.
Note that the assignment, which she completed, is called "Navigating Schoology" and she was able to do it.
That neither dh, nor Linnea, nor I were able to figure out. We have all the logins. She can login to All The Things now. We just can't get them to speak to each other.
Ugh.
So yeah. We now have four accounts, in addition to the google suite. Nothing talks to anything else.
So much for "single, easy location".
Thinking longingly about Canvas, which I used as both a parent (with Perry, his school was an early adopter for 5-12, so did a lot of debugging and feature testing) and a student.
And to top it all off, Linnea is pissed with me. I made a big red rectangle on a page in our passwords file (yes, we're old tech) and labeled it LINNEA SCHOOL ACCOUNTS. I wrote all the passwords, her student id, etc. I didn't have her gmail password so I asked her to fill it in. She took the page, ignored all the collated info, and wrote it somewhere else. UGH. Not a big thing, in the scheme of things, but UGH.
I'm going to make dh run for the schoolboard. :)
ETA Apparently the problem was that she was not actually supposed to submit the assignment?

We heard from many parents/guardians, students and teachers who wanted a single, easy location for classes. Schoology is our new learning management system.

Date: 5 Sep 2020 00:03 (UTC)We attended the schoology meeting yesterday as well. The last one in English.. had we missed it, our only option would have been in one of the four Indian languages it was offered in. I love my district at times.
