Weird feeling

I despise Dick Cheney. DESPISE.

And yet, right now, I'm feeling grateful for him for taking a stand with the #RealMenWearMasks. I saw the initial post on Twitter, from Liz Cheney, and quite frankly I was surprised.

It’s slightly worrisome that, in order for us to survive as a species, spouses and daughters or sons must scour Etsy for Venom-themed masks so that their 52-year-old packaging-engineer husbands and fathers can feel gender-secure when they pop out to Safeway for some milk.

Note to self: hug son and spouse for not being dicks. Buy MIL some chocolate.

One of the printmakers I follow on instagram linked to a post from some sex educator who compared mask wearing to condom wearing. The post had these examples of unhelpful and helpful counter-arguments to why guys say they won't wear one, then went on to say "replace condom with mask and it still works". Alas, I can't find it any more. [One example that I can remember: "I'm too big." Unhelpful: "LOL." Helpful: "Masks come in many sizes; I can help you find one that fits."]
